Careers

Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) at Chace seeks to holistically prepare students for their future.  It is a comprehensive careers programme that provides aspirational and realistic career goals for all of our students, and clearly links curriculum learning to careers. We seek to provide students with the knowledge and experience to make informed decisions for their future choices in the workplace, higher education or training.

To achieve this aim, we are adopting the Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Careers Guidance framework to develop and improve our careers provision. The eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance are:

  1. stable careers programme
  1. from career and labour market information
  2. the needs of each pupil
  3. curriculum learning to careers
  1. with employers and employees
  1. of workplaces
  1. with further and higher education
  1. guidance

Baker Clause Policy Statement

Chace Community School uses the Gatsby Benchmarks as a guide to plan our careers programme. As part of our commitment to informing our students of the full range of learning and training pathways on offer to them, we are happy to consider requests from training, apprenticeship and vocational education providers to speak to students. This complies with the School’s legal obligations under Section 42B of the Education Act 1997.

Chace Community School also proactively seeks to build relationships with education partners as we plan our careers activity throughout the school year to ensure that providers have multiple opportunities to speak to students and their parents across years 7- 13, to offer information on vocational, technical and apprenticeship qualifications and pathways.

Chace Community School ensures that staff involved in guidance and pastoral support are up to date with their knowledge of post 16 and post 18 pathways.

Student Entitlement

Students in years 7-13 are entitled to:
- Hear from a range of local providers about the opportunities they offer, including technical education and apprenticeships;
- Find out about technical education qualifications and apprenticeships at each transition point;
- Understand how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.

The Governor link for careers is Vicki Morgan. She can be contacted via the careers lead: aroper@chace.enfield.sch.uk

Opportunities for Access

Opportunities for providers to speak with students may include school assemblies, employer and provider engagement events or opportunities to speak with students and parents on a one-to-one basis supporting GCSE, post 16 or post 18 option choices.
Years 9, 11 and post 16 students are given opportunities to meet with an impartial careers advisor.

We also follow the Provider Access Legislation - full statement can be found here.

Unifrog Platform

As part of our commitment to prepare students for a rapidly changing world, we are delighted to announce that we are using an innovative online resource called Unifrog. Unifrog will help your child to connect with their future career potential, develop their employability and help them to explore future career and study options at school or at home.

Student Use

Every student has a login for Unifrog and it is accessible anytime on computers and compatible mobile and tablet devices.
Students personalise their profile with details about their skills, qualities, interests and work preferences. This provides a starting point for them to explore information matched to their personal preferences and interests. As they update their profile, Unifrog will personalise this information, helping them to navigate the thousands of jobs, courses, providers and opportunities available. Unifrog will help students to understand where they are on their journey and what’s important as they make their choices at GCSE, post-16 and post-18.

Parents and Unifrog

We encourage parents to use Unifrog with your child at home. Students can be encouraged to rate jobs, qualifications, colleges or universities so that we can see their preferences in order to support them better.
For more information on Unifrog or the support available for your son or daughter, please contact the Careers Team at Chace Community School on careers@chace.enfield.sch.uk

Employers, Higher & Further Education Institutes and Volunteers

We welcome a wide range of employers, representatives from Higher & Further Education Institutes and Volunteers to Chace and our students greatly benefit from these encounters, both in school and on trips and visits.
