The Year 8 inter-form debate competition was won by 8MNAT. Two representatives from 8MNAT put forward a strong debate for ‘Single-sex education’ being the best option for our educational success! They researched and planned their debate well and put forward convincing arguments to represent this viewpoint (despite their actual views on the subject).

Fourth Plinth Competition

Mayor’s Award for Science
Congratulations to our Year 9 student for coming 3rd in the Mayor’s Award for Science competition held this week. She and three other Chace students competed against several other Enfield schools at the competition held at Middlesex Univerisity.
Finding the Higgs Boson
Dr Maria Pavlidou from the School of Physics and Astronomy, University of Birmingham, with Winning students after finding the Higgs Boson and calculating the mass of the Z boson. Using the Atlantis software, students carried out the analysis and calculations in much the same way as the particle Physicists working with the ATLAS detector at CERN.
Year 12 Ethics Conference
Year 12 religious studies students enjoyed a day of lectures with renowned British philosophers Dr Peter Vardy and Dr Bernard Hoose. One of our students articulately argued against the motion ‘this house agrees that euthanasia is the most loving thing to do’ in a debate.
Year 11 Achievement Assembly
Congratulations to the 43 students who received platinum ties for achieving good grades across all their subjects in the Pre-Public Exams. Students will have two more opportunities to earn ties by showing improvements in their attainment over the coming term.
Year 9’s are the new freshman at Kingston University
On 2nd February 2017, Year 9 students were invited to Kingston University, South London, to experience student life there. At the University, they did many activities with other schools: games using transferrable skills like communication, a personality test, discussions about career options and an interview with University students and staff. This informative visit helped them think about choosing the right options for GCSEs and how that will shape their future.

Speak Out Challenge
Our talented Year 10 student receives a certificate for taking part in the Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge at St Ignatius College after delivering a speech about his dad to a packed house.
Chace Debate
Year 8 and 9 students took part In the Mayor’s Debate Award and performed with confidence and courage. They are through to the next round in February.
