Chace students and staff were involved in various activities to celebrate books and reading on 1st March -World Book Day 2018. Students had to recognise which characters the staff were dressed as and used the opportunity to talk about reading! We also did, “Drop everything and read” during lesson 1. Students read their own book, were read to or read a short story on the whiteboards.

Post 16 Trip to the emagazine Language Conference
Students got the opportunity to listen to five fantastic talks from a range of industry greats including linguist David Crystal and lexicographer Susie Dent.
Mayor’s debate award 2017
Our talented and brave Year 8 and 9 students faced seven other Enfield schools in the finals of the Mayor’s Debate Award. It was a fierce competition and our students strongly debated the issues of capital punishment and political leadership. Though we were not winners this year, they certainly represented Chace in an outstanding way showing confidence and courage.
Talented Chace Poet Published
Congratulations to our talented poet, Danielle, whose poem, We The Machines was recognised for merit in a national competition and selected to be published in this year’s Young Writers’ Anthology.
Books and Biscuits
Our new reading club, Books and Biscuits has proved to be very popular. It’s was a joy to see students reading and enjoying literature socially. Well done to Ms King and our student readers.
