Our KS3 curriculum is taught within the termly learning carousel of the Technology faculty, rotating with five other distinct subjects across Year 7 and Year 8. Technology is billed as a double-lesson. Each specialist subject lasts between 11 to 14 weeks, which covers one whole term.
Essential aspects of Computer Science are taught in preparation for the option to complete a GCSE and if desired, an A Level.
Students who opt to study Computer Science in Year 9 will complete a 20-week course, through weekly double-lessons, lasting one and a half terms.
Our KS4 programme runs after school and is offered to students wishing to extend their learning of the subject. Our current cohort consists of willing year 9 and year 10 students who study this in addition to their school timetable. They will work towards a non-examined assessment piece, namely a coding project and towards two exam papers, expected to happen in May 2019.
The emphasis of our computing curriculum is so students can develop their problem-solving skills, opening opportunities for entry into higher education or direct entry into industry.
