    Safeguarding

    Safeguarding at Chace Community School

Safeguarding and child protection are central to everything we do at Chace Community School and are everyone’s responsibility.

We are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where all students can learn, develop and thrive. Our approach is child-centred and reflects our whole-school culture of vigilance and care.

All staff, governors and volunteers understand their statutory responsibilities and are trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns promptly and effectively.

    Our Safeguarding Commitment

In line with our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy (Spring 2026), we ensure that:

    • Appropriate action is taken promptly to safeguard and promote students’ welfare

    • All staff are trained to recognise and report safeguarding concerns

    • A strong culture of vigilance exists where concerns are identified and acted upon

    • Safeguarding is embedded through our curriculum, including PSHE, Lifeskills, assemblies and form time

    • We promote a culture of zero tolerance towards sexism, misogyny, harassment, discrimination and abuse

    • Students are taught how to keep themselves safe, including online safety

    • We work in partnership with families and external agencies to support students

    • All staff follow clear procedures for reporting concerns to the safeguarding team

    What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children means:

    • Protecting children from maltreatment

    • Preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development

    • Ensuring children grow up in safe and effective care

    • Taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes

    • Providing help and support as soon as problems emerge

Safeguarding includes a wide range of issues such as abuse, neglect, exploitation, online safety, mental health concerns, peer-on-peer abuse, and risks such as radicalisation or criminal exploitation.

    Safeguarding Team

The school has a dedicated safeguarding team led by:

    • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Natalie Slade

    • Deputy DSL: Sevgi Cevik

The safeguarding team works closely with staff, families and external agencies to ensure students receive the support they need.
