The Year 7 Council met today to share their opinions on a range of topics including uniform, rewards, and other issues of concern for them. They made notes which will be passed on to the student council for discussion at their meeting next week.
180 students accompanied by 36 members of staff enjoyed a fun packed Tolmers camp where our new Year 7 students got to know each other. It was a successful trip with activities including archery, high ropes, kayaking, rafting, orienteering, initiative exercises, sports competition, night navigation exercise and a campfire spread over 2 days with sleeping in tents.
You may have noticed in our recent bulletin a feature advising students how to gradually stop depending on social media as part of a seven-day Digital Detox. We took this message further during a recent year 7 assembly and demonstrated to students and their form tutors what positive effect it could have to make more active use of their time during the half-term break to be “offline” than to continually communicate online.
In addition, our Digital Eagle, Moska Suratgar from year 9, enlightened her audience by demonstrating how much time it would take a hacker to decode a simple password and a complex password. Judging from the brief murmurs in the background, this took most students and their form tutors by surprise.
Moska demonstrated how to create a complex password, so that users can improve the protection level of their information, whether it’s a simple login to the computer network or viewing emails.
By having a complex password, you can ensure for a safer computing experience knowing that your information is better protected. Try combining two words together, intermixed with numbers and special characters, such as £, $, %, ^ or &.
If you are wondering that those characters are called, they are: pound sign; dollar sign, percent; caret; and ampersand.
Year 7 had a wet but thoroughly enjoyable trip to Tolmers this weekend. Thank you to all of the staff who gave up their time to make the trip such a success.
Year 7 students enjoying their trip to Boulogne-sur-Mer. Après les croissants, la plage!
Congratulations to our year 7 boys (and girl) football team that beat Kingsmead 4-3 to be crowned league champions. Players have shown great dedication by attending 7:40am training sessions twice a week over the year. A great commitment from these exceptional young people.
Year 7 girls competed in the MFA Girls School Futsal County Finals today. They powered through the tournament and topped the group stage where they went through to the the semi-finals to only lose by one goal. They all enjoyed this day out and despite not reaching the finals they are all very proud to have got that far.
Congratulations to our talented Year 7 street dancer who was selected from thousands of other entries for a chance to dance live on stage with Justin Bieber last week, at his Purpose World Tour at the O2 Arena.

Well done to all the Year 7 students who have begun with the end in mind this week on their exciting learning journey at Chace. They have worked hard all week and deserve a good rest this weekend. They will need all of their energy for next week and their trip to Tolmers.
