Health and Social Care is offered at Chace at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 as option choices. We are confident that students have an enjoyable period of study on our Health and Social Care programmes and it's our aim that every learner who wants to succeed will do so.
We are here to help students work towards their future goals, as well as achieving qualifications in this subject. The qualifications on offer have been developed to provide specialist work-related qualifications in Health and Social Care.
At Key stage 4, we offer a new provision, the BTEC Tech in Health and Social Care. This is a two year course, during which learners will be assessed by focussing on 3 units of study, two coursework and one controlled assessment unit
At key stage 5 we offer the Extended Certificate (equivalent to 1 A Level) and Diploma (equivalent to 2 A Levels) options. These BTEC courses are assessed through a combination of coursework, examination and controlled assessment units. Learners who opt to study on the Diploma course, will also be expected to carry out work experience in a health and social care environment.
The courses offered are practical and will provide students with the opportunity to complete activities based on realistic situations linked to working in a variety of health and social and work related environments. Learners are provided with an understanding of what it will be like to be employed in this sector, as well as developing communication, numeracy, literacy, IT, time management and teamwork skills.
