A Monster Calls
Year 7 making an excellent start in English, as they get stuck into ‘A Monster Calls’ by Patrick Ness. Well done 7DC!
Drop Everything and Read
Reading was a focus for all students for the first 15 minutes of lesson 1 today. These history students all read an extract from ‘1984’.

Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
Congratulations to Edward for being the only student in the borough of Enfield to complete his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award during 2019/20. A massive achievement in which he completed a canoeing expedition on the River Wye, spent a week dog sledding in wild Canada and learnt new skills such in Engineering and working with the Fire Brigade.
Half marathon for Young Carers Foundation
Well done to Vanshi who has been helping the Young Carers Foundation throughout Lockdown and has run a half marathon for Place2Be. We are proud of what she is doing to support the local community.
Kooth
Kooth is specifically for young people aged 11-18 and offers a variety of resources, including:
- A live chat function that allows young people to contact a qualified counsellor
- Chat forums with other young people
- Crisis information
- Self help resources
The Kooth team are providing free, safe and anonymous online support and counselling.
Kooth’s aim is to keep the service it offers to young people confidential. This means that Kooth’s team of counsellors won’t talk about your child to other people outside of the Kooth Team.

Talent for Writing
Congratulations to Isabelle in year 8, who entered a competition posted on our SMHW page. Her work has been selected to be included in an anthology showcasing talented young writers. Fantastic!
Scholars Programme
Our Brilliant Club, Scholars Programme results are in: over 90% of participants achieved a 1st or 2:1 in their final dissertations. Huge congratulations to the students involved – your UCL PhD tutor was hugely impressed as are we! Well done! (photo prior to lockdown)
