Young Writers

Our bunch of young writers has wowed judges and editors!  All are winners of the “Through their Eyes” competition and will be published shortly. Look out for the announcement of the Young Writer prize winners too!  5 published young poets will each receive £100. To be announced next term. 

Week 1

Years 7s have settled well into their first week of secondary school here at Chace. We look forward to sharing their work and successes in the years ahead!

Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Congratulations to Edward for being the only student in the borough of Enfield to complete his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award during 2019/20. A massive achievement in which he completed a canoeing expedition on the River Wye, spent a week dog sledding in wild Canada and learnt new skills such in Engineering and working with the Fire Brigade.

Kooth

Kooth is specifically for young people aged 11-18 and offers a variety of resources, including:

  • A live chat function that allows young people to contact a qualified counsellor
  • Chat forums with other young people
  • Crisis information
  • Self help resources

The Kooth team are providing free, safe and anonymous online support and counselling. 
Kooth’s aim is to keep the service it offers to young people confidential. This means that Kooth’s team of counsellors won’t talk about your child to other people outside of the Kooth Team.

Talent for Writing

Congratulations to Isabelle in year 8, who entered a competition posted on our SMHW page. Her work has been selected to be included in an anthology showcasing talented young writers. Fantastic!

Scholars Programme

Our Brilliant Club, Scholars Programme results are in: over 90% of participants achieved a 1st or 2:1 in their final dissertations. Huge congratulations to the students involved – your UCL PhD tutor was hugely impressed as are we! Well done! (photo prior to lockdown)
