Successful Year 13 Trip!

The trip to the Freud Museum was a huge success! The students had a brilliant day and were given a insight into the work and influence of Freud and the application of this theories to the Psychodynamic approach.

We met the director of the museum and she was really impressed with the student engagement and behaviour and our facilitator commented on their knowledge and curiosity.

Boulogne Trip

Year 7 French students went to sunny Boulogne-sur-Mer for the day where they learnt how to make bread and croissants. They also visited the old town and practised their French. Finally, they explored the local sandy beach where they fully enjoyed the glorious weather and warm water. Quelle belle journée!

Big Bang Fair 10th July

On Tuesday 10th July, 14 primary schools from Enfield came to Chace to participate in the Big Bang Fair. The primary students have been working on science projects and presented their science projects to real life scientists who came to support the event. The scientists went around, looked at the projects, asked questions and listened to the science that the students have been learning and investigating. The projects covered everything from how to make dirty water clean, volcanoes, density of materials and how the shape of a boat can affect how quickly it sinks. The primary students had a question and answer session with the scientists where they learnt about the different paths into science and the many different jobs that you can do with science.

The primary students made bath bombs, investigated acids and alkalis, made slime and looked at their own cheek cells under the microscope in the Science labs at Chace. We also has a visit from the Titan II Truck run by RS Components, the truck is worth over one million pounds and is 35 tons. Both the primary students and students at Chace were able to go on the Titan II Truck. On the Truck they experienced two different virtual reality video games, learnt about how 3D printers work and can be used to make prosthetic limbs and found out how augmented reality is used to make apps such as Pokemon go! The also heard about different British inventors who are doing amazing things with STEM right now. The primary students were taken around Chace by a team of 30 Year 9 STEM Ambassadors who answered their questions about life at ‘big’ school, supported them with their experiment and helped them find their way around the school. The primary students and their teachers were very impressed by our students and said that they day wouldn’t have been such a success without them.
The Big Bang Fair at Chace was a huge success and engaged everyone in a range of STEM activities.

Middlesex English Schools Championships 2018

Well done to the Chace studentsl who represented the Enfield Team at the Middlesex English Schools Champs 2018.

They all had a fantastic experience competing against all boroughs in Middlesex. All athletes were competing at a high standard and most pupils who represented the Enfield team were Chace students. Excellent attitude towards P.E. and Sport in general. Well Done!

Science Paris Trip 2018

Some of our students in Year 9 were very lucky to visit the Cite des Sciences et de l’industrie in Paris during our half term break. The group of 40 students and accompanying staff saw many of the exhibits including the Solar Impulse 1 aircraft which flew across America in 2013 and the Geode located outside.

The group then made their way to Disneyland Paris where they experienced the effect of rollercoasters on the human body and learnt the science behind some of the attractions. These included the work done on gravity by Sir Isaac Newton.

The group really enjoyed themselves and were a credit to the whole school.

‘Oxford was ‘Bear’ fun!’

Year 10 students enjoyed a great day at St Peter’s College, Oxford. The day included research experience at the Pitt Rivers Museum, a tour of Oxford and an enlightening and inspiring talk by an Oxford music graduate. We also had lunch in the dining hall of the college to experience the communal living of university life.
