Body Worlds

During my trip at the Body Worlds Museum, it educated me about the inner workings and mechanisms of the human body and showed me a variety of effects the daily lifestyle choices and risk factors have on our health and nutrition. There was a range of areas of the museum that displayed the different body systems such as the digestive system, the respiratory system, the reproductive system, the cardiovascular system, the locomotive system and the nervous system. In addition to all of that, is showcased how they preserved human bodies using the process of plastination which was also amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to body worlds and would recommend it anyone to who is intrigued about the human body.

First Give 2018

First Give is an educational school programme which helps young people use their time and talent to improve their community. At Chace, students in Year 9 spend 2 months during Life Skills lessons identify a soical issue in our community, engage with a local charity that address them

Students select a charity and then produce engaging presentations that champions their chosen charity to complete in the School Final in order to complete for a grant for their charities and win £1,000.

The 8 charities that were represented this year were:

9DKO     Enfield Charitable Trust
9AFG     Age UK, Enfield
9DDO    Cancer Research UK, Enfield
9LWI     The Shane Project
9MBR    Mind
9SAD     Enfield Caribbean Association
9AWI     Nightingale Cancer Support Centre
9KAN     Bikestormz

As well as producing a presentation, groups have to get involved in some social action. This

ranged from voluntary work, promoting the work the charity and fundraising.

Over £2000 was raised by our Year 9 students this year which will go towards helping chairities in our local community.

This years final took place on Wednesday 13 June were representatives from the charities attended as well as local community representatives which made up the external judging panel.

All groups should be proud of the work they have done over the pass 2 months however the overall winner of this years First Give Award went to 9LWI. The charity received £1000 from First Give as well as 9LWI raising a staggering £704 from the social action they took part in.

Well done Year 9!!!!

Mayor’s Award in Science

Two of our Year 12 Biology students proudly represented Chace at this years Major’s Award held at Middlesex University.
Both students undertook challenging and interesting science activities against students from other local schools. The academic staff and Phd students were extremely impressed with their work ethic and determination. They were a credit to Chace. A further congratulations to one of the students for coming 3rd in the competition!
