Mayor’s debate award 2017

Our talented and brave Year 8 and 9 students faced seven other Enfield schools in the finals of the Mayor’s Debate Award. It was a fierce competition and our students strongly debated the issues of capital punishment and political leadership. Though we were not winners this year, they certainly represented Chace in an outstanding way showing confidence and courage.

Journey beyond Chace

Year 12 have had a busy week, beginning to prepare for their journey beyond Chace.  Last Friday, they visited the North London Higher Education Fair, held at Middlesex university, where they were able to speak to over sixty universities and apprenticeship providers about their options and today we had over 20 professionals visit us, giving Year 12 the opportunity to find more about careers in a wide range of areas including Aerospace Engineering, Firefighting, Investment Banking, Architecture, Law and Performing Arts.  All of our visitors were incredibly impressed with the professionalism, enthusiasm and confidence displayed by our students – well done Year 12.

Drama Festival 2017

Thank you on behalf of the Drama Department to the friends, family and teachers of Year 9 Drama students who attended this year’s Drama Festival. The night showcased some amazing talent from year 9 students who performed their monologue or duologue performances studied during their Drama lessons. They have made us all incredibly proud and have received glowing praise from those who came along to watch! Money raised from the event will be going to ‘Refuge’.

Brilliant Club – the Doctors of tomorrow

Year 8 and 9 pupils involved in ‘Brilliant Club’ had a taste of the life of a university medical student when they attended lectures and seminars at the Guys Hospital campus of Kings College London.

Students were challenged and stretched throughout the day and clearly thrived under the pressure. The tutor working with them was very impressed with the quality of their work and attitude to learning.

A brilliant effort all round!

Chace University

Students involved in the new ‘Chace University’ took part in a seminar on ‘Visual illusions in Psychology’ this week.  Ms Legg, who led the session, was very impressed with the extremely high standards of work the students produced in their presentations.

Year 10 Holocaust Memorial

“If we held a moment of silence for every victim of the Holocaust, we would be silent for eleven and a half years”. Students in Year 10 had the pleasure of taking part in a Holocaust Memorial workshop at Belsize Square Synagogue. Students were able to meet a Holocaust survivor and learnt the importance of standing up for others and learning lessons from the past.
